On the 10th of April 2018 the artist obtained his first tourist visa to the place of his birth "the UAE" after voiding his residance permit of which he was require to renew every three years for the entirety of his life. On the 10th of April the artist visited the UAE as a legal stranger for teh first time and concluded his trip by exchanging the digital ink on his passport with a sun tan on his skin.

Born 1988, Walid Al Wawi is a Jordanian Palestinian-native, concerned with the hybridisation of the modern Middle Eastern identity and the implication of the geo-political claustrophobia upon cultural naturalisation.

In 2011, Walid was been awarded The Sheikha Manal Young Artist Award. Since then he had collaborated on group exhibitions, and was put through a residential experience leading to his first solo-show and later contributing to international and local art festivals, he made his first live performance in late 2014 at FIAC in Paris.

Walid’s work has been added to many collection through out his practice including the recent acquisition by the collection of his Highness Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan.

Recently going through the Salama Bint Hamdan Al Nahyan emerging artist fellowship programme to pursue his masters in the Fine Arts at Central Saint Martins College of Art, London, where he currently lives and studies.
